Mit der Lumix GF5 hat Panasonic eine Nachfolgerin der kompakten Einstiegs-Systemkamera GF3 vorgestellt. Der Live-MOS-Sensor mit 12 Megapixeln liefert in Kombination mit dem überarbeiteten Venus-Engine-Bildprozessor höchste Bildqualität insbesondere bei höheren Empfindlichkeiten. Mit der G5, der Nachfolgerin, der Lumix G3, führte Panasonic seinen eigen kreierten Begriff für die Lumix-Wechselobjektiv-Kameras ein: Aus Systemkamera wird DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless). Im Inneren ist ein 16,05-Megapixel-Sensor, der nur minimal mehr Auflösung als der Chip der G3 bietet. Wie die Vorgängerin kann die G5 aber weiterhin mit rauscharmen Bildern glänzen. Bei ISO 1600 löst die Kamera die Bilder immer noch mit 1385,06 Lp/Bh auf, bei ISO 100 sogar mit 1555,28 Lp/Bh. [...]

Besonders bei Fotos in dunkler Umgebung sind schon ab ISO 800 Störpixel am Monitor zu sehen, Ausdrucke bleiben bis ISO 1.600 davon verschont. Dagegen hat die GF5 in Sachen Schärfeleistung gegenüber der Vorgängerin GF3 deutlich zugelegt, und auch die Farbdarstellung ist sehr ordentlich.
Mit der Lumix GF5 bietet Panasonic eine äußerst handliche Systemkamera, die vor allem in Kombination mit dem flachen Zoom-Objektiv G Vario "Pancake Power-Zoom" 14-42 mm kaum größer ist als eine ausgewachsene Kompaktkamera. Pfiffig ist das berührungsempfindliche Display, über das sich die Kamera flott bedienen lässt. Da vergisst man schnell, dass die dezidierten Schalter und Knöpfe etwas klein ausfallen. ...
The GF5 is a nice update of Panasonic's GF3. Handling has improved thanks to the reworked interface, and picture quality has been enhanced at high-sensitivity settings. All in all, the Lumix GF5 is a pleasant and consistent camera to use. There are better cameras out there, but they'll no doubt be bulkier and more expensive.

The Lumix GF5 is a style driven entry-level point to Panasonic’s G-series range of compact system cameras, and succeeds last year’s GF3. Small and stylish, it’s an easy to use digital camera that’s capable of excellent image quality. Upgrade highlights over the previous model include a new finger grip, a metallic lens mount, a much improved LCD monitor and new additions to the range of on-board digital filters. We've given it a thorough hands on test and can safely say that Panasonic appears to have pulled another rabbit out of the hat with the GF5.
