Testberichte

- Well priced
- Keyboard dock included
- Full Windows 8.1
- Tacky build materials
- Average display
- Windows not quite on par with iOS/Android
If you’re curious about Windows 8 on a portable tablet, the Transformer Book has a much lower barrier to entry than the Surface Pro.
- Battery life: almost 10 hours
- Screen: high contrast (1,000:1)
- Tablet mode
- Doesn't overheat
- Low fan noise
- Screen: unnatural colours (dE = 7)
- Low CPU and GPU performance for a laptop
- Mediocre speakers
The Asus Transformer Book T100TA is kind of different for a hybrid. It has extremely low performance as a laptop (productivity and web browsing will be all you do on it), but excellent performance as a tablet. Considering the price, it would be a great choice as a standalone Windows 8 slate.
If you travel a lot then this is a very light unit. For a second PC it is ideal and remember most Windows programs should run without problem.
- Windows 8.1 on a budget
- Real Surface rival with full access to programs
- Brilliant battery life
- USB 3.0 in the dock = handy
- Takes ages to charge or spring to life from flat
- Resolution isn’t all that
- Atom’s improved but still has limits
As long as hardcore gaming on the go isn’t on the agenda, the Transformer Book T100 is the most affordable way to get a slice of Windows 8.1 and Office while keeping the portability of a 10in tablet. If you’re more bothered by price and portability than the detachable screen, a Chromebook might be worth a look.
- Good value
- Decent battery life
- Responsive touchscreen
- Poor quality touchpad
- Cramped keyboard
- Average display
Gadgets like the Asus Transformer Book T100 mean you no longer have to choose between a tablet and a laptop - it's a fully functioning computer so your only choice is keyboard-on or keyboard-off. It's pretty lightweight, comparing well to a laptop with both parts assembled. And it performs well, and at length. On the flip side, the display really doesn't match others out there, so you may tire of its low resolution and average colour palette. And the keyboard is a disappointment in terms of build quality and usability, especially the creaky touchpad. The T100 is also available in wi-fi only configuration, there's no 3G model. ...

This great value touchscreen hybrid has a great screen and superb battery life.
- Full Windows 8.1
- Affordable
- MicroSD support
- 10.5 hour battery life
- Cramped keyboard
- No LTE option
- Mediocre performance
- Lengthy charging time
The T100 is a versatile laptop and tablet hybrid that arrives with full Windows 8.1 and an eye-catching price tag. That said, be aware of its cramped keyboard and average internal horsepower.
- Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis (+0.5%)
- Vollwertiges Windows 8.1
- Echte Tastatur
- micro USB, micro HDMI, a microSD card slot and a full USB 3.0 port on the keyboard base, Bluetooth 4.0
- Battery life is great, lasting 591 minutes (9 hours, 51 minutes)
- highly affordable
- thicker and bigger than your average iPad or Android tablet
- The chassis feels like a ticket to glossy Plasticland
- The tablet's 1366x768-pixel touch display is effective but not particularly bright
The T100 is more laptop than tablet but has the option to be flexible. It's not a great laptop, but it's a capable one and highly affordable, too. If you can find one of these around AU$350, you're getting a tablet and a netbook in one, with plenty of battery life to spare and full Windows 8 ...
- Good Tablet-cum-Laptop detachable solution
- Windows 8.1 OS
- Good touchscreen
- Good battery life
- Only 2 GB RAM
- Hardly any HDD space
- Only one USB port
- Decent screen
- good battery life
- low price
- Chunky
- touchpad could be more sensitive
Yes, you can get Microsoft's Surface 2 for a tenner more, but that model only runs the limited RT version of Windows 8.1 and you'll still need to shell out another £100 for the accompanying keyboard. ...
- Great keyboard
- USB 3.0
- Good battery runtimes
- Very good display
- ...
- Webcam quality
- Not enough storage (32 GB version)
- Not enough RAM
Intel's Bay Trail Atom leaves a good impression. You should not expect any miracles from the quad-core, but the performance has clearly been improved, both subjectively and objectively. It pays off to use a Bay Trail system (Z3740) instead of an old Clover Trail (Z2760). ...
- Excellent value
- Flexible design
- Great battery life
- Screen doesn’t match non-Windows rivals
The Asus Transformer Book T100 is a tablet that leaves out frilly features in order to bring the Transformer form to Windows with zero impact on cost. And what has resulted is a bit of a hit. If a tablet-laptop Windows hybrid is what you’re after, you can’t do any better at the price.
This is not an iPad killer, or even a rival to the Surface Pro 2. But at £349 it is a compelling deal. The Asus Transformer Book T100T is a compact device that offers true functionality and decent performance. And it is a truly portable office PC. Much more updated netbook than desirable gadget, students, school children, home PC users and office road warriors could easily spend more and get less.
- "The Asus Transformer Book T100 runs full Windows 8.1, comes with a keyboard, has great battery life, and is a steal if you can find it for $350."
- "The cramped keyboard feels like an old Netbook's used to
- not as fast as zippier, larger, more expensive Windows products
- display not that vibrant."
The Asus Transformer Book T100 revives the Netbook value proposition (and Netbook usability issues) in a budget-priced 10-inch laptop that doubles as a tablet. You won’t love it, but for sheer bang for the buck, it’s hard to beat.

Thanks to Intel’s new Atom CPU, the Transformer Book T100 delivers full Windows 8.1 in a tiny, affordable package – the netbook is back.

- Affordable cost
- Include keyboard dock
- Great battery life
- Plastic casing is prone to scratches
- Trackpad is stiff
At its core, you get the best of both worlds with this particular tablet, mainly because it’s one part tablet, one part netbook. Best of all, you’re not going to be spending a fortune on picking it up!

In context to the rest of the market it's a real winner. It might be a touch more cash than a Chromebook competitor, but the Asus has so much more to offer. We think it’s an excellent device and one not to be overlooked.
- Great battery life
- Keyboard dock included
- Very responsive
- Flakey touchpad on keyboard
- Cramped keyboard
- Top-heavy in notebook mode
The Transformer Book T100 delivers a solid tablet experience and a good notebook experience in one machine. But it would be even better with a superior keyboard and trackpad.

- Low price
- IPS display
- Improved Atom performance with Bay Trail
- Keyboard dock and MS Office 2013 Home and Student Edition included
- Tiny keyboard
- Fingerprint magnet
- Occasionally balky
- Quality issues with our unit
Our only concern is quality control, and we hope that the first few units to hit the shelf are an exception rather than the rule.
- Low price includes keyboard and Microsoft Office
- Light weight
- Long battery life
- “Bay Trail” Atom CPU makes Windows 8.1 feel snappy
- Unresponsive touch pad
- Petite keyboard
The people who brought you the netbook bring you its 2013 equivalent—a $399 mini laptop/detachable tablet with a 10.1-inch touch screen and 11-hour battery life. With Windows 8.1 and Microsoft Office preinstalled, it shoots to the top of our list of tablet values.
- Very long battery life
- Inexpensive
- Keyboard included & Microsoft Office preloaded
- Solid Bay Trail performance
- Good webcam
- Very slow to charge
- Stiff inconsistent touchpad
- Cramped keyboard
- Awkward Start button placement
The ASUS Transformer Book T100 offers fantastic battery life, a peppy Atom Bay Trail processor and a keyboard for less than the Surface 2.
As we didn't get to see the thing actually running, we're going to keep it short on the Transformer Book. However, we will say that this feels like the Transformer series coming to an almighty, exciting creschendo. There are still a few issues – there are only two USB ports, for example - but we're not sure we've ever seen such a convincing meld of a mid-size laptop and a tablet. We'll be back with availability and pricing details on the Transformer Book as they become available.
