Obwohl das Gehäuse der Canon Powershot SX210 IS kompakt genug ist, um bequem in eine Jackentasche zu passen, hat die Kamera ein 13,8-faches Zoom. Die Bildqualität ließ zu den Rändern hin ein bisschen nach. In der Teleeinstellung gibt die Kamera etwas weniger Details wieder als bei eingefahrenem Zoom. Bildeinstellungen – unter anderem lassen sich Blende und Belichtungszeit von Hand regulieren – werden mit einem leichtgängigen Drehrad auf der Kamerarückseite schnell geändert.
Canons schlanker Superzoomer wartet bis ISO 400 mit sehr guter Bildqualität auf, danach sind die Bilder deutlich weichgezeichnet. Der vergleichsweise langsame Fokus bremst die Kamera aus. Die Bedienung ist intuitiv, das Programmwahlrad sehr griffig, aber der Zoomschieber klein, scharfkantig und die Einstellung der Brennweite schwierig.

You certainly can't fault the specs. The SX210 boasts one of the latest 14.1-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch sensors, and its 14x optical zoom even beats Panasonic's mighty Lumix DMC-TZ10. If you're serious about your photography you can use the aperture-priority, shutter-priority and manual modes to control depth of field and motion blur, and, if you're not, you can simply set the camera to full auto and let it take care of everything.
On paper, the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS looks terrific but, in practice, it's far from perfect, both in terms of handling and general picture quality. While other camera makers are keen to explore new and innovative approaches to imaging technology, Canon seems content just to crank up the numbers.

The new shooter is upgraded with a higher-resolution sensor and has been redesigned to look more stylish. There are also new scene modes comprising the interesting Miniature Effect and Fisheye.
The SX210 IS is a very capable camera that does what it promises, but we think the image quality could be better.
