Die Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR ist eine gute Alltagskamera, die sich vor allem durch eine sehr eingängige Bedienung auszeichnet. Die Bildqualität ist zumeist sehr gut, wird jedoch im Videobetrieb unnötig getrübt. Der hohe Komfort kann aber über Mankos wie fehlende manuelle Einstellungsmöglichkeiten zumeist hinwegtrösten.

Fujifilm's EXR technology looked fascinating when it first appeared, but it just doesn't seem to have moved on. The FinePix F80EXR boasts a mild resolution increase over the FinePix F70EXR and the purple fringing is gone, but the crossover between the normal and EXR modes is as confusing as ever.

Following in the footsteps of the excellent Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR, the F80EXR offers the same revolutionary low-light shooting capabilities and some excellent features elsewhere. With a 12MP sensor, 10x optical zoom and HD movie recording the F80EXR is perfectly positioned to challenge the likes of the Sony HX5 and Panasonic TZ10.

Although the F80EXR has plenty of attributes to appeal to the modern snapper, the overly aggressive pixel smoothing spoils the end product somewhat. The focus is also quite sluggish, even if the camera performs reasonably well elsewhere.

Fazit
Trotz umfangreicher Ausstattung und angenehmer Bedienung versagt die Fujifilm Finepix F80EXR im wichtigsten Punkt: Bei der Bildqualität. Die liegt deutlich unter dem bei Kompaktkameras üblichen Durchschnitt. Warum ist unverständlich, denn eigentlich hätten die einzelnen Bildpunkte auf dem Bildsensor sogar etwas mehr Platz als auf den meisten anderen Chips.

The Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR (also known as the F85EXR in some countries) is the successor to last year's F70EXR. The new point-and-shoot was unveiled earlier in February and is one of the company's first few compacts using the Super CCD EXR sensor with HD-quality video-recording function. Its specifications receive minor upgrades over its predecessor, but there are several new features in the F80EXR that impressed us.

We liked the F80EXR for its ability to churn out decent pictures even at high ISO. While its performance is not stellar, it is on par with the competition.
