Testberichte
Attention snowboarders, snorkelers, and rock climbers: The ruggedized Casio Exilim EX-G1 point-and-shoot digital camera is a worthy companion for your next outdoor adventure. That's assuming, of course, you don't snowboard in weather colder than 14 degrees Fahrenheit, you don't snorkel in water over 10 feet deep, you don't climb rocks higher than 7 feet, and you can live with middling image quality. ...
All in all, the Casio Exilim EX-G1 is not the best camera if you're looking to snap breathtaking, wall-size photos of the great outdoors. But if you simply want to tote something to get quick shots on your next mountain-biking/white-water rafting/rock-climbing trip, it's sturdy enough to withstand the journey.
- "Kurze Auslöseverzögerung, flach genug für die Hosentasche"
- "Kein echtes Weitwinkel, kein HD-Video, microSD-Kartenslot"
Bildqualität (45%): 66 Pkt.; Ausstattung/Handling (40%): 52 Pkt.; Geschwindigkeit (15%): 88 Pkt.
Beste Robuste Kompaktkamera
The water and freeze proof Casio EX-G1 is designed with shock-resistant elements throughout the camera, both inside and out, creating a smart look in a slim-line camera with functional beauty. ...
Best Rugged Compact Camera
Wasserdicht und farbtreu – die Spaßkamera für unterwegs.
- Practically no shutter lag for one-off shots
- withstands drops, water and cold temperatures
- Takes MicroSD/MicroSDHC cards rather than SD/SDHC
- hard to operate with big hands or gloves
- very slow shot-to-shot lag
Snowboarders, snorkelers, and rock climbers, listen up: The ruggedized Casio Exilim EX-G1 point-and-shoot digital camera is a worthy companion for your next outdoor adventure. That's assuming, of course, you don't snowboard in weather colder than 14 degrees Fahrenheit, you don't snorkel in water over 10 feet deep, you don't climb rocks higher than 7 feet, and you can live with middling image quality while you're on the move.
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is certainly rugged -- but you're paying more for durability, not great images.
- Stabiles und schickes Outdoor-Gehäuse
- Schnell
- Kompakt
- Kein Weitwinkel
- Kein Bildstabilisator
- Kein HD-Video-Modus

- Slim body makes for unobtrusive pocketing
- ruggedness
- Body too slim for comfortable use
- 38mm lens not wide
- image quality
- electronic anti-shake
Freezeproof to -10C, waterproof to 10ft, dustproof and shock resistant to a fall of 7ft, the onus here is on grabbing snaps whatever the conditions, wherever you happen to be.
The Casio EX-G1 does what it says on the tin - it's rugged, freezeproof, waterproof, dustproof, shock resistant and ever-so-slim. But while it excels in the rough-handed department, it's let down by a relatively low-spec, not a wide enough angle lens and, ultimately, so-so image quality. If you need a camera that is hard as nails then the Casio EXILIM G1 is as good as they come, but if you're in the market for a camera to produce finer quality pictures then the same money could buy an entirely different approach of a camera...
- Very original style
- Well-designed interface: stylish and mostly user-friendly
- Resists falls (2 m)
- water (3 m) and the cold (-10 °C)
- Well made
- Only uses microSD cards
- Poor quality images
- especially beyond 800 ISO
- No stabilisation
- Blurry video with dreadful sound
- Battery flap very hard to use
It's made the move with this Exilim EX-G1, whose unusual look actually hides a fairly unremarkable camera: it has a 12 Megapixel sensor and a 3x zoom without wide-angle or image stabilisation. ...
The Casio Exilim G1 is an ultra-compact waterproof camera with a very interesting new look. Unfortunately, it can't keep up with the competition, which outperforms it in every area. It's rugged frame just can't make up for the poor quality photos.
- Rugged construction
- Low shutter lag
- Photo quality is merely okay
- Long shot-to-shot times
- Slightly over-designed
Available in red and black versions, the EX-G1 certainly looks different from your average pocket camera. It's very small, which is what you want in a rugged compact camera, and you won't hesitate to take it with you, no matter what the conditions are.
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is a good snapshot camera that's built to take a beating, but its photos and shooting features are nothing special.
- Cool (if occasionally impractical) design
- lightweight
- fun to use
- user friendly for the most part
- toughened qualities
- Variable image quality
- which on the whole resembles the output from a digital camcorder that also shoots stills
- plus priced at a slight premium because of its toughened attributes
Do you want a very portable digital snapshot camera for use in all weathers and formerly inappropriate conditions? ...
The Casio EX-G1 may look marginally cooler than an Olympus Mju Tough or Panasonic Lumix, but they, along with the uglier Canon D10, take better photos whilst sharing many (if not the exact same) toughened attributes. Fun to use, but there are better examples out there
- Eye-catching design
- rugged specifications live up to claims
- Minor design flaws with battery cover
- no wide-angle lens
- image quality degrades from ISO 200
Typically, rugged cameras don't score very high for their designs because the block shape which most of them sport is uninspiring. However, Casio is looking to challenge that with the tough Exilim EX-G1. The company is no foreigner to making hardy electronics. Its G-Shock timepieces are among the toughest watches on the market that also look stylish.
The EX-G1 is a nice camera to have if you want a point-and-shoot that looks different from others, but we wished it could deliver better pictures.
