Testberichte
HD-Camcorder mit Speicherkarte. 17fach Zoom (gemessen: 14fach). Starkes Tele. Schwachpunkt: Braucht viel Licht (wenig lichtempfindlich). Sehr leicht (210 g)." (Online)
- "They're compact and have manual controls, a zoom lens, and a video light, which is nice for the price of the Panasonic HDC-SD40, TM40 and TM41."
- "When it comes to video quality, you're getting what you pay for."
Panasonic's HDC-TM40, TM41 and SD40 are some of the cheapest camcorders you can buy with a zoom lens and manual controls. If you care about video quality, spend a little more money on another model; if you don't, buy the cheapest one of these you can find, adjusting for the cost of memory for the SD40.
The HDC-SD40 is Panasonic's entry-level 1MOS camcorder. It has many more manual features and - most importantly - a 16.8x optical zoom, which no pocket Internet model can boast. Image quality is reasonable for the price, and there's even a Power OIS optical image stabilisation system, to keep things steady when shooting handheld. The SD40 is not the absolute best budget deal on the market, but it provides the most manual settings at this price.
It has been a few years now since the Flip and its ilk threw a spanner in the works for the budget end of the traditional camcorder market. Pure point-and-shoot users will still find this class of camcorder, such as Panasonic's own HM-TA20 offers the most for their money. But if you do want a little more control and an optical zoom, Panasonic's HDC-SD40 makes a decent choice. JVC's Everio GZ-HM445 gives a little more for the money overall, but with its independent control over shutter and aperture the SD40 offers the most shooting flexibility at this price.
