Entspiegelt.

The 14-inch member of Lenovo's small-business-oriented ThinkPad Edge family of laptops, the ThinkPad Edge E420s promises a strong combination of sleek looks, portability, performance, and typing comfort. But is this 14-inch Core i5-powered notebook ($889 as configured) the best choice for mobile professionals on the move? Heck yeah.

Fazit

The 14-inch Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s combines a dash of style with an excellent keyboard and all-day endurance.

Zusammenfassung

Since its 2010 debut, Lenovo's ThinkPad Edge series has provided small businesses with an affordable option that combines legendary ThinkPad quality with updated looks. With the introduction of the 12.5-inch ThinkPad Edge E220s ($869 as configured), Lenovo has turned the style volume up to 11 with a sexy, soft-plastic body and chrome accents. But does this luscious laptop perform as well as it looks?

Fazit

This small, 12-inch business notebook offers plenty of speed and comfort in a sleek package.

Fazit

Zusammenfassung

Alas, how simple life was when IBM sold its PC division to Lenovo in 2005. There were only three clearly defined product lines for the notebook market: The R Series led the way into the ThinkPad world. The T Series stood for high-quality business notebooks, whose reputation still continues. And then there were the ultra mobile devices of the X Series. ...

Fazit

The ThinkPad Edge is perhaps the first step towards letting go of the classical ThinkPad design to a more modern styling. If that is really necessary will remain to be a matter of taste. You however have to accept setbacks in terms of function, as well as workmanship. Although Lenovo clearly positions the ThinkPad Edge series on the inexpensive starter level with superior equipment, the Edge can't fully keep up to the quality claim of a ThinkPad. ...

Das Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 15 ist ein Notebook für gehobene Ansprüche. Ask 100 designers to create a contemporary, attractive laptop and 98 of them will paint the lid red. Do looks matter in a budget business notebook? Budget laptops are necessary for the self-employed and those without lots of money to burn, but those same users may also be entrepreneurs who prefer affordable, nicely designed machines that do double-duty as personal laptops rather than boxy generic systems. In 2008, Lenovo launched its first small business line, the SL series, which offered a less conservative riff on the classic ThinkPad design. Now comes the Edge series, designed to blow the doors off of ThinkPad’s time-honored design aesthetic while providing cost-conscious small-to-medium–sized businesses with plenty of performance and strong battery life at value prices. Though there’s room for improvement, the 13.3-inch Edge 13 ($899 as configured) delivers on these promises in a big way.
