Testberichte
- guter Klang
- 2-GB-Speicherkarte mitgeliefert
- mittelmässige Kamera
- altes Android 2.1
- dunkler Bildschirm
Testergebnis: befriedigend (2,55); Preisurteil: sehr günstg
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a mid-range Google Android smartphone, targeted at users who can't afford the premium Xperia X10 and find the Xperia X10 mini or mini Pro too small for their tastes. ...
Given the £20-per-month price tag, it’s hard to criticise the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8. We simply found better Android handsets for the price.
- Neat interface
- Quick access to favourite apps via customisable corner shortcuts
- Responsive screen
- Good external speakers
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Form factor may not suit everyone
- Occasional slowdowns
- Home page has one widget per page limit
- Camera takes mediocre image and video quality
- Android 2.1 a bit dated
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a small Android smartphone that is simple to use and packed with a number of features. It is just a shame that it cannot be updated to Froyo and beyond.
The Xperia X8 is a smartphone that is worth checking out thanks to its attractive price tag and solid features. However, the operating system is a bit behind compared to a lot of handsets coming out this year. Users who are looking for a phone that can be updated in the next coming months should think long and hard before taking the plunge.
- Gute Bildqualität auch in heller Umgebung
- Lange Akkulaufzeit
Sony Ericsson has had a bit of a topsy turvy time with its Android phones over the years. Its first few attempts, including the Xperia X1 and Xperia X10, didn't quite get the balance right but the X10 mini and X10 mini pro both impressed us and were intriguing options if you were looking for a particularly small phone.
The Sony Ericsson X8 should have a lot going for it, as it's a small, affordable Android phone that packs in all the essential features. However, it doesn't quite hang together and there are simply better cheap Android phones available.
Altes Betriebssystem.
Before now Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Android smartphone series came in just two sizes: X10 Mini and Mini Pro small and large with the flagship X10. Anyone wanting something in between was left to look elsewhere. Thankfully, the Japanese Scandinavia outfit has finally plugged this size gap with the lower mid-range and compact Xperia X8...
Even with the OS update it’s difficult to recommend this workaday smartphone ahead of more accomplished mid-rangers.

- Capacitive display
- response from screen is pretty good
- Build quality not great
- poor camera performance
- out dated version of Android
- Sony Ericsson's tinkerings add little to get excited about
- software seemed occasionally buggy
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 takes the UI we saw on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and flips it over to a device with a 3-inch screen. ...
Faced with the excellent screen of the Orange San Francisco or the more considered customisation from Samsung, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 doesn't have a lot in its favour
- Good-looking
- Access to Android App Market
- Loud external speaker
- Decent earbuds included
- Old 1.6 version of Android
- User interface ill-suited to screen size
- Useless Timescape app
The X10 occupies the middle ground between, the big, bold Xperia X10 and the teeny, tiny, Xperia X10 mini. But where the X10 flaunted a beautiful 4-inch screen and the X10 mini sported a case that could fit in the smallest pocket, the X8 lacks much to recommend it over other medium-sized phones.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 feels out of date, and its custom user interface doesn't suit it. It's not terrible, but there are better cheap Android smart phones.
- Good look and design
- Better screen resolution than rivals
- Good sound quality
- Outdated Android OS
- Sluggish performance
- Slightly small screen
- Fixed focus camera lens
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a mid-range Android phones that focuses on users who can't afford the premium Xperia X10 and find the Xperia X10 mini or mini Pro too small for their taste. The Xperia X8 offers a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen and it runs on Android OS. Its list of features except for the fixed focus 3MP camera is on par with the other mid-range android phones.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, priced at Rs. 13,950 has a good design, decent set of features and is one of the best looking mid-range Android phones. However, the rather sluggish performance , the slightly small screen size (3-inch) and its outdated OS ( Android 1.6) puts the phone behind its rivals. If looks aren't your concern, we recommend you go for the Samsung Galaxy 3.
- Design
- Bedienung
- Ausstattung
- Multitouch
Preis/Leistung: sehr gut
- Rounded design is comfortable to hold
- reasonably attractive matte finish
- decent screen resolution
- custom UI works well
- Slightly cramped for messaging
- Timescape is limited
- runs Android 1.6
- no multitouch
Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X8 sits between the high-end XPERIA X10 and the entry-level XPERIA X10 Mini and XPERIA X10 Mini Pro smartphones. It's a mid-range Android smartphone with a relatively compact design. The XPERIA X8 has a better screen resolution than both the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro, but we were disappointed that it ships with an outdated version of Google's Android operating system.
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 offers a similar user experience to the smaller XPERIA X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro handsets, and like those phones it ships with an outdated version of the Android operating system.
- GPS mit Wisepilot und Google Maps Navigation (Beta)
- Guter Sound
- Robuste Verarbeitung
- Komfortable Social Network-Anbindung durch Timescape
- WLAN und UMTS mit HSPA
- 3.5 Millimeter Klinkenbuchse
- Wechselcover
- Magere Kamera- und MP3-Player-Einstellungs-Optionen
- Werkseitig spärliche Ausstattung der SMS-/MMS-Nachrichtenfunktionen
- Kein Multitouch
- Veraltetes 1.6 Andoid Donut Betriebssystem
