Der Vorgänger des Xperia Ion hat ebenfalls die hochauflösende 12-Megapixel-Kamera sowie ein HD-Display an Bord. Trotz beinahe identischer Ausstattung, kostet das Xperia S deutlich weniger und ist damit gerade für Schnäppchenjäger ein wirklich interessantes Oberklasse-Smartphone.

The Sony Xperia S looks good and packs a decent set of hardware components, including an excellent screen and camera. Aside from the standard Android complaint of abysmal battery life, the phone is let down by its main control buttons – a triumph of art over function – and cluttered and out-of-date software. It's relatively low price may make it worth a look.
A decent all-rounder with a fantastic screen and a very reasonable price tag undermined by unacceptable battery life.

With an innovative design, a nice finish, an interface with broad appeal and high responsiveness, the Xperia S easily falls into the pantheon of today's high quality smartphones. However, surprisingly for its market positioning, it doesn't live up to its promises when it comes to photos and the screen quality is inconsistent. Sony is definitely on the right track, but it hasn't yet reached perfection.

Nach anfänglicher Enttäuschung über dessen Limitierungen und offensichtliche Mängel, insbesondere dem veralteten Betriebssystem, dem fest verbauten Akku und dessen schlechter Leistung, bin ich dann aber auch trotzdem mit dem Gerät „warmgeworden“. ...

Und die Auslieferung mit einer alten Android-Version ist ein Faux-Pas - da nützt auch das angekündigte Update nur wenig.
