Testberichte
Kompaktes und flaches Smartphone mit guter Tastatur und einem Multitouch-fähigen, einfach zu bedienenden Betriebssystem.
Many people were rather miffed when Palm decided not to release the original Pixi in the UK. The baby brother to the Pre, it had a smaller screen and a less cute design than its larger sibling, but it was cheaper and still used the much vaunted WebOS to power it. Finally, though, we've been given the successor to the Pixi, the Pixi Plus that just like the Pre Plus is a very slightly updated version.
There are many things we like about the Pixi Plus including its slick operating system, and nice form factor. However, its build quality isn't good enough, its keyboard is fairly poor, and it's overpriced.
Palm’s original Pixi – the budget, candybar understudy to the Pre – never made it to the UK. This was something of a shame, as we were big fans of its domed keys and build quality, if a little less impressed by the lack of Wi-Fi. After noting our complaints, Palm has returned with the UK-bound Pixi Plus. It still has a somewhat paltry 2MP camera, but has improved its controls by removing the trackball and now has that missing Wi-Fi.
Sleek, slight and featherweight, the Pixi Plus is a fun QWERTY phone if not quite as affordable as it should be.
- Inexpensive
- Slim, pocketable design
- AT&T coverage can be spotty
- Keyboard feels too cramped
The "Plus" in the Palm Pixi Plus ($50 with a two-year contract from AT&T; price as of 6/3/10) really means one thing: the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity. Other than that, the phone is identical in specs and design to its predecessor. While the keyboard isn't perfect and WebOS performance can be sluggish, the Pixi Plus is a solid, inexpensive smartphone--and Wi-Fi only bolsters its abilities.
Palm’s sprightly Pixi Plus is a good, inexpensive addition to AT&T's assortment of smartphones, but some users might have trouble with the tiny, cramped keyboard.
- helles, kontrastreiches Display
- reaktiver Touchscreen
- QWERTZ-Tastatur
- durchdachtes Interface
- kombiniert Adressbuch mit Social Networks
- WLAN, HSDPA, Bluetooth und GPS
- gelegentlich sehr langsam
- kleines Keyboard
- kurze Akkulaufzeit
- kein microSD-Kartenslot
- leerer App Store
- Clear, vivid display
- Responsive touchscreen
- Qwerty keyboard
- Well-designed, beautiful user interface
- Merges your info from social networks and the cloud
- Good connectivity, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS
- Slim
- Subtle good looks
- Very sluggish at times
- Keyboard may be too small for some
- Short battery life
- No memory-expansion slot
- App Catalogue is still painfully empty compared to its competitors
The Palm Pre was a refreshing take on touchscreens, with a gorgeous, smooth user interface and a tiny slide-out keyboard. But the Pre wasn't cheap -- and its successor the Pre Plus certainly won't be -- and that's where the Pixi comes pirouetting into the picture.
The Palm Pixi Plus packs a triple threat of great connectivity, heaps of features and a fresh touchscreen user interface into a smart, subtle-looking case. Sadly, it's very slow at times and its app store is one of the poorest out there.
- Small
- Light
- runs webOS
- Wi-Fi
- 3G
- Not as fast as we had hoped
- battery life not great
Palm's Pixi mobile never made it to the UK, but that hasn't stopped the company, recently bought by HP, releasing the follow up, the Palm Pixi Plus on O2 and hopefully other operators. ...
There is potential here and if you aren't fussed about adding apps or using the camera then it's a 'nice' phone to have
- Sehr kompaktes Design
- Gute Telefonakustik
- Gut durchdachtes Betriebssystem
- Display und Tastatur zu klein
- Schwacher Akku
- Kein erweiterbarer Speicher
- Cute, pocketable design
- Now with Wi-Fi connectivity
- Keyboard is too small
- WebOS sometimes lags during navigation

- Wi-Fi
- small and light
- Only 8GB of storage

While the keyboard isn't perfect and WebOS performance can be sluggish, the Palm Pixi Plus is a solid, inexpensive smartphone - and Wi-Fi only bolsters its abilities.
If you want an unobtrusive smartphone for messaging and social networking, the lithe Palm Pixi Plus is a good fit - even if the keyboard needs some work.
The 'Plus' in the Palm Pixi Plus smartphone really means one thing: the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity.
If you want an unobtrusive smartphone for messaging and social networking, however, the lithe Palm Pixi Plus is a good fit - even if the keyboard needs some work.
The Palm Pre’s younger, less powerful sibling, the Palm Pixi, has returned, this time on Verizon Wireless with the same “Plus” moniker. What does the Plus include? Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot capabilities on a new network, with the promise of video recording and integrated Flash support arriving with the next webOS update in February. Otherwise, the Palm Pixi Plus is identical to the original Palm Pixi, save the Verizon Wireless logo in the upper right corner...
Palm adds Wi-Fi and a convenient hotspot app to its messaging-friendly smart phone, but the Pre Plus is a better value.

Palm’s sprightly Pixi Plus gets a speed boost with Wi-Fi connectivity and Verizon’s fast 3G network.
- "The Palm Pixi Plus brings the addition of Wi-Fi and the capability to use the smartphone as a mobile hot spot. The sleek handset also offers Bluetooth, 3G, and GPS. The multitasking features of Palm WebOS continues to be one of the highlights."
- "The smartphone can be sluggish. The camera lacks editing options, and picture quality is pretty poor. No expansion slot."
While not a major overhaul, the Palm Pixi Plus adds built-in Wi-Fi and gives customers making the jump from a feature phone to a smartphone even more functionality without breaking the bank.
- Great features in WebOS
- cute
- pocketable hardware design
- Can be slow to open/close apps
- no Wi-Fi
With the Palm Pixi now on sale in the US, Macworld UK's US-based sister site PC World has taken a look at Palm's lighter smartphone, the Palm Pixi. It's smaller, and slightly cheaper than the Pre, but can it stand up to the iPhone? ...
With the Palm Pixi not currently on sale in the UK, you'll find it difficult to pick up a unit. Even so it points to an interesting future for what many now consider to be the iPhone's main competitor. By offering a smaller and cheaper model with reduced features it may well open up the Palm to a market unable - or unwilling - to pay the premium required by Apple for the iPhone. We'd still take the iPhone over the Pre, let alone the Pixi, but it's an interesting device nonetheless.
