Performance & Bedienung (30 %):85; Ausstattung (20 %)87; Akku (15 %):86; Display (15 %):83; Digicam (10 %):83; Telefon &Sound (10 %):78

The Galaxy S4 is a great phone with outstanding hardware and performance, but it's not flawless. We're disappointed with the build quality considering the handset costs a fair bit more than its rivals and while the S4 is packed with features we find a lot of them to be gimmicky.

The larger screen, the better holdability, and the advances to the camera and its image editing are what will attract you to the Galaxy S 4, not the partially implemented software gimmicks. They're good enough attractions on their own for any Android user out of contract and eligible for a carrier subsidy on a new device. ...

• ✓"Everything you loved about the S III, but more of it. Big battery lasts all day. Super AMOLED 1080×1920 screen is one of the sharpest you can buy, and it uses the new, more durable Gorilla Glass 3. MHL 2.0 port lets you connect to an HDTV. Crisp daylight photos. OK, so the visual language translation thing is pretty damn cool (requires a data connection)."

The Galaxy S4 isn’t just a phone, it’s a device that wants to track and train you into becoming a Gadgeteer 2.0. Your eyes, your steps, your surroundings, your swipes: it seems that the S4 is always there panting at you to turn on features, stick yourself in photos and finesse the right Air Gestures.

Although it's perhaps not the out-and-out game changer some were expecting, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is, on first impressions at least, certainly a new dominant force on the Android smartphone scene. Sure to go head-to-head with the likes of the iPhone 5 and HTC One over the coming months, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is set to benefit from a raft of immersive, engaging and performance enhancing features that will complement the improved hardware to create an all-round impressive device.

• ✓Stunning screen
• ✓Superfast processor

There's no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a significant step-up from the S3. It's impressive that Samsung has managed to slim-down the device even though it's added a bigger screen and a host of new goodies. ...

The Galaxy S4 is likely to be one of the best-selling handsets in 2013, despite it being not as physically different from its predecessor--as the HTC One or the Xperia Z are from their earlier models. While the software enhancements that Samsung has introduced do sound attractive, we're not too sure how it will hold up until we actually give the retail set a try. ...
