Packed with impressive features, but the Sony HX60's image quality might not match expectations

The Sony Cyber-shot HX60 gives a large 30x optical zoom lens, along with manual controls and flash hot-shoe making it a capable and expandable camera.

The Bionz X imaging engine may have promised boosted response times and better picture quality but, in the end, the Sony Cyber-shot HX60 isn’t much of an improvement on last year’s HX50. Picture quality has got a little better, but this Sony superzoom has fallen behind its predecessor in other respects. Don't get us wrong—this is still a versatile and pleasant-to-use compact camera, but Sony’s competitors are fighting back with a new set of more attractive rivals. Sony's monopoly of the 30x pocket camera market is officially over.
