Testberichte
- There's more than enough power on offer
- 10.5-inch TrueTone screen is great for portable work
- thin and light
- excellent app ecoystem
- Shame it's the last-gen Apple Pencil
- an OLED screen would be nice
The iPad Pro is technically better, but do you need its extra features? To us, this is a pro-level tablet for the masses - fast, light, reliable and useful.

- Sleek design
- Powerful innards
- Great suite of free apps
- No TouchID
- Camera features lacking
- 16GB version is too small
Want the best tablet on the market? Then get the iPad Air. It's got a stunning design, powerful innards and a superb suite of apps. It's as near to tablet perfection as you're going to get.
- viele Audio-/Video-Apps, leicht, lange Akku-Laufzeit, Top-Kontrast
- 4:3-Display, ruckelnde 1080p-Videos, grobe Farbquantisierung
- Slimmer and lighter than previous iPads
- A7 chip makes it fastest
- iPad Air's extra speed not obvious in general use
- Screen feels slightly plasticky because of 'flex'
Apple's best tablet ever, it's small, light, incredibly powerful and has an amazing screen.
- Very light
- Robust and premium design
- Excellent screen
- Solid battery life
- Consummate all-rounder
- Storage comes at a premium
- No Touch ID
The iPad Air is the best overall 10-inch tablet you can buy by quite a margin. The huge weight reduction makes the larger of the two iPads a far more attractive option again, while retaining all the iPads traditional strengths such as its unrivalled collection of tablet optimised apps. A revolution it isn't, but we find it very hard to see how Apple can top this version now.
- Slimmer and lighter than previous iPads
- A7 chip makes it fastest iPad yet
- Same price as iPad 4 (now discontinued)
- iPad Air's extra speed not obvious in general use
- Screen feels slightly plasticky because of 'flex'
The iPad Air is the finest tablet currently available to humanity. But the same was once true of the iPad 4; is this enough of an improvement to warrant an upgrade? The Air has two main advantages over the 4: it's slimmer and lighter, and it's faster. ...
- Thin and light
- Beautifully designed and built
- Amazing display
- Performance and battery life is as good as it gets in this space
- ...
- Audio quality
- Cameras are nothing to write home about
- We found the iPad mini-style case loses some of the premium feel of preceding generations of iPad
The iPad Air is without doubt a great product. But it now exists in a world of great tablets, and some of them are cheaper – the Nexus-branded Android tablets and the Nokia Lumia 2520 spring to mind.
Ultimately though the iPad Air will suceed by simple nature of its new weight – the lose of almost 200g is so significant to its handling, and means it could encroach on E Ink ebook readers; only with the power and versatility, not to mention gorgeous colour screen, of a real iPad.
- Sleek design

Want the best tablet on the market? Then get the iPad Air. It's got a stunning design, powerful innards and a superb suite of apps. It's as near to tablet perfection as you're going to get.
The iPad Air improves on its predecessor in every respect and replaces it at the top of the A-List.
- Size and weight reduction
- Faster 64-bit processor
- Better battery life
- No slo-mo video recording
- No 8MP rear camera upgrade
- Price
However, focussing specifically on the tablet sector, it’s not just our favourite Apple tablet. It's our favourite tablet ever. Until we get our hands on the Retina Mini...
- Noticeably thinner and lighter
- More portable and comfortable to use
- Powerful A7 processor brings zippier performance
- Faster Wi-Fi connectivity
- Same great display and battery life as before
- Lower iPad storage levels haven’t changed since the first model
The iPad Air is Apple’s best tablet to date, by a wide and meaningful margin.
Overall, if really must have the extra 1.9-inches of the Air, then go for it but we strongly suggest you get the equally well equipped 32GB iPad mini with Retina for the same price.
- hervorragende Verarbeitung
- brillante Performance

- Sturdy and lightweight
- Free iWork and iLife suites
- Beautiful design
- Fantastic battery life
- No camera flash
- No expandable memory
- Expensive
- No Touch ID sensor
The iPad Air strikes a balance between design, powerful hardware and a slick user experience. It might just be the best tablet on the market.
- Light, slim chassis
- Speedy A7 processor
- Slick new iOS 7
- Impressive battery life
- Pricey
- iTunes
- No memory card slot
This is the best version of the iPad we’ve seen to date with fantastic performance from a light, slim chassis. The Retina display is as it always has been, but the iOS has had an overhaul, which was much needed.
- Thin & Lightweight
- Brilliant battery life
- Retina Display
- Great app selection
- Still no expandable storage
- No Touch ID
- Expensive
The iPad Air is the best iOS tablet to date – with a sleek design, excellent performance and battery life. But be warned: the 16GB of storage on the entry level model will get used up quickly by large 64-bit apps, so it's worth considering the 32GB option if you're an app junkie.
- Excellent design, brilliant screen, battery life is superb, extremely powerful even versus the previous iPad 4, App Store is populated with high-quality games and tools, bundled productivity software, good camera, excellent value for money
- There are still improvements that can be made to the camera, or to bring iPhone technology to the iPad, but nothing that hinders this incarnation competitively in any way
We have no hesitation in saying that this the best 10-inch iPad Apple has ever made. It feels like a milestone ...
- Light and slender build
- Zippy A7 processor
- Sleek new iOS 7
- Great battery life
- Not cheap
- Good ol’ iTunes
- Still no memory card slot
The Apple iPad Air is the best iPad yet, with a gorgeous and refreshingly light body packing impressive performance. The Retina screen remains the same but iOS has received a much-needed refresh, making for a brilliant all-round experience.
- Verarbeitung
- Wertiges Design
- Gewicht
- Display
- ...
- Screen produces luscious colours all day long
- Prettier and more portable than rivals
- Ace App Store and free Apple apps
- Ushers in dawn of 64-bit software
- Lack of ports, adapters are pricey
- iOS walled garden may frustrate you
- Not a complete laptop replacement
- More capacious versions are expensive
The Retina display, iApps and skinny-as-a-Mini build join forces to make this the best tablet money can buy.
- Derzeit schnellster Tablet-PC
- Brillantes Display
- Schlanke Bauform
- Geringes Gewicht
- Vergleichsweise Hoher Verkaufspreis

The iPad Air is the best overall 10-inch tablet you can buy by quite a margin. The huge weight reduction makes the larger of the two iPads a far more attractive option again, while retaining all the iPads traditional strengths such as its unrivalled collection of tablet optimised apps. A revolution it isn't, but we find it very hard to see how Apple can top this version now.
- Thin & light metal design
- Solid construction
- Unsurpassed catalog of tablet-optimized apps
- Base option is just 16 GB
- Poor low-lighting performance with its camera
The iPad Air follows in the same footsteps as its predecessor, where it’s a fantastic tablet that has a fine balance with everything it has to bring to the table – so you won’t be disappointed by what you get!
- Great design and display
- Free iWork apps
- Improved performance and battery life
- Cameras are still poor
- Not many 64-bit optimised apps
Apple's iPad Air is the most comfortable to use 10in tablet on the market. While the cameras remain average, the iPad Air also boasts some improvement in speed and battery life, and remains a market leader when it comes to the 9.7in Retina display.
- Thinner
- Lighter
- Faster
- iLife and iWork apps are great
- Truly desirable tablet
- Same camera as iPad 4
- No 802.11 ac
- Can't realise 64-bit speed yet
Apple has done it again: the iPad Air is a tablet better than the last iPad. Simply put the iPad Air is the best iPad the company has ever made. It's light, it's thin, it's fast, it's amazing.
- Amazingly thin and light
- Terrific battery life
- Excellent performance
- Class-leading app selection
- iOS 7 still glitchy in places
- Gets expensive fast
- Safari icon remains an abomination
The only real competition is the iPad mini with Retina display.
- Thin and light, looks great
- Powerful 64-bit processor
- New Wi-Fi antennas are fast
- iOS 7 runs best on Air
- Battery life is a solid 10 hours
- Speakers are a step down from iPad 4
- Camera quality has not improved
- Not as comfortable as iPad Mini
The iPad Air is probably the best 10-inch tablet we’ve ever used, but if you want one tablet, we recommend holding out for the iPad Mini with Retina.
- Impressively slim and light
- Fast
- Very good camera
- Top-notch app selection
- LTE version works with every U.S. carrier
- Expensive
- Pages and Numbers, while free, don't measure up to Microsoft Office for productivity
The iPad Air is Apple's attempt to make the tablet disappear. The result is an unusually slim, well-built platform for the best array of apps in the business.
- Very light
- Very thin
- Large screen area
- Powerful A7 chip deals with big spreadsheets or games easily

- Not the cheapest
- Screen PPI lower than some Android tablets
- Keynote missing some functionality
Apple's new tablet is lighter and faster – and by throwing in iWork and iLife for free, it has raised the bar for its rivals.
- Size and weight reduction
- Faster 64-bit processor
- Better battery life
- No slo-mo video recording
- No 8MP rear camera upgrade
- Price
Pitching the iPad Air against its competitors is quite easy – it's the best looking, premium, and app-happy tablet on the market. The cosmetic design changes are an unequivocal improvement, and the weight reduction proves a genuine benefit for everyday use. ...
Apple’s iPad has never looked or felt better than the new Air
Functionally, the iPad Air is nearly identical to last year’s model, offering only faster performance and better video chatting. But factor in design and aesthetics, and the iPad Air is on another planet. It’s the best full-size consumer tablet on the market.
- Thinner, lighter, faster, iLife and iWork apps are great, truly desirable tablet
- Same camera as iPad 4, no 802.11 ac, can't realise 64-bit speed yet
Apple has done it again: the iPad Air is a tablet better than the last iPad. Simply put the iPad Air is the best iPad the company has ever made. It's light, it's thin, it's fast, it's amazing....
