Viewsonic hat dem 10-Zoll-ViewPad ebenfalls einen Doppelkern-Prozessor spendiert. Das installierte Android 2.2 läuft dadurch selbst mit eigens für Viewsonic modifizierter Oberfläche sehr flüssig. Damit die Spielfreude lange währt, hat Viewsonic einen Akku mit so viel Kapazität spendiert, dass ein HD-Video um die acht Stunden ununterbrochen auf dem ViewPad läuft...

The ViewSonic ViewPad 10pro is a tablet that just doesn't quite know what it is - tablet or laptop. It's heavier than your average tablet, yet lighter than a laptop. If portability is key, this won't be the device for you. However, business users who still want to access spreadsheets and documents, but who like the idea of entering into the world of touchscreen, might want to give it a try, although there are probably better choices out there.

Ein kleiner Kartenschacht nur, und zwar der für die SIM-Karte reicht dem Viewpad für einen Testsieg mit hauchdünnem Vorsprung vor der Konkurrenz von POV. Daran ändert auch die etwas bessere Verarbeitung der Konkurrenz nichts.

Wie alle Tablets dieser Größe muss sich das Viewpad 10S mit dem iPad vergleichen lassen und zieht dabei den kürzeren: es ist mit Abmessungen von 179 x 276 x 14,5 Millimetern deutlich größer und wiegt mit 768 Gramm auch einiges mehr. Ganz so weit weg von anderen Tablets wie dem Motorola Xoom (167,80 x 249,10 x 12,9 mm,i 730 g) oder dem Asus Transformer (177 x 221 x 13 mm, 680 g) ist man damit aber nicht. ...

Das Viewpad 10S von Viewsonic macht einen guten Eindruck, bietet jedoch nur gemäßigte Geschwindigkeit und eine geringe Akkulaufzeit. Zudem wirken Farben auf dem Display sehr blass und das Herumfummeln an der seitlichen Abdeckung der Schnittstellen ist umständlich.

Im Vergleich zum Vorgängermodell Viewpad 10 erweist sich das Viewpad 10s als deutlicher Fortschritt, ist aber immer noch weit von der Perfektion entfernt. Der Nutzer muss vor allem bei der Bildschirmdarstellung und der Verarbeitung des Gehäuses und der gewöhnungsbedürftigen Bedienung zu Kompromissen bereit sein.

The ViewPad 10s is comparable with the Apple opponent, the iPad, in terms of size and weight. The display diagonal is a bit larger in the ViewPad 10s. The Viewsonic has a screen diameter of 10.1 inches rather than 9.7 inches. The weight differences are marginal and almost equal. The biggest difference is found in the pad's dimensions. The device is notably larger and, in particular, thicker. In comparison, the iPad only measures 8.8 mm, the ViewPad 10s is almost twice as thick. According to the manufacturer, it is "only" 14.5 mm. But it feels a great deal thicker though. ...

Aside from a lot of fun, testing the ViewPad 10s also bestowed us with a lot of frustration. Manual deleting of apps from the memory via task manager gets annoying after a while. However, this is not only a problem of the Viewsonic, but of many other Android pads as well. 512 MBs of RAM is quickly filled. It's comparable with, for example, the latest Windows PC that has to work with a 512 MB RAM in Windows. The "Home" key's positioning and the lateral ports' magnetic cover are also unfavorable. ...

Das Testen des Viewpad 10S von Viewsonic brachte neben viel Spaß auch einigen Frust mit sich. Das manuelle Löschen von Apps aus dem Speicher per Taskmanager ist auf die Dauer nervig. Aber dieses Problem hat nicht nur das Pad von Viewsonic, sondern auch viele andere Android-Pads...

This 10-inch Wi-Fi tablet has the heart of a netbook, with an Intel Atom N455 Pine Trail processor powering Windows 7 Professional and the now-ancient Android 1.6. Unfortunately, this $679 tablet (as reviewed) costs $80 more than the Android 3.0-equipped Motorola Xoom (on contract) and $179 more than the Apple iPad 2. Can this dual-personality slate satisfy anyone? In a word, no.

Wenn es unbedingt ein 10-Zoll-Tablet sein soll, das preislich deutlich unter dem neuen iPad 2 liegt, kommt das Viewsonic ViewPad 10s zweifellos in die engere Wahl. Denn im Gegensatz zu vielen Konkurrenzprodukten leistet es sich – abgesehen vom in vielerlei Hinsicht schwachen Display – keine richtig groben Schnitzer, also keine stotternden Videos oder einen an Staubsauger erinnernden Lüfter.

Like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the 10s uses a version of Google's Android software that was designed for mobile phones, not tablets -- version 2.2 Froyo. Android 2.2 works well on the Tab, since its 7-inch display is only 3 inches or so larger than that of a big touchscreen phone.

The ViewSonic ViewPad 10s tablet is relatively affordable and decent enough when it comes to browsing the Web. But it's not cheap enough to justify its lack of standard Android features and poor screen.

On the back, there's a rubberised coating that helps you to grip the device, preventing it from sliding out of your mitts and down the gap between the train and the platform. The tablet measures 170 by 262 by 15mm, so it's not too massive.

Das Viewsonic ViewPad 10 macht keinen wohldurchdachten Eindruck. Vielmehr scheint es, als wollte der Hersteller überstürzt auf einen Trendzug aufspringen. Dementsprechend fehlen dem an sich sehr ordentlich verarbeiteten Gerät echte Alleinstellungsmerkmale. Den positiven Ansätze der Wahl von „Android“ als OS macht Viewsonic leider mit einer veralteten Version ohne „Android Market“ zunichte.

ViewSonic showcased several new products at the event we attended yesterday, but the most exciting of these were undoubtedly the American company's new tablets, the ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10. Both offer attractive looks, more features than you could shake a stick at and some nice extras, so should the Apple iPad and Samsung's Galaxy Tab be shivering in their metaphorical boots? As we've already given you an extensive look at the ViewPad 7, we'll instead concentrate on the ViewPad 10.
