Der Pocket-Cam-Einstand von Panasonic macht vor allem bei Tageslicht ein gutes Bild. Seine LED ist zwar eine Besonderheit, aber lediglich als Aufhellung bei geringem Abstand nützlich. Das Display bietet auch im Hellen ordentliche Sicht, ein HDMI-Anschluss an den TV hat man sich gespart. Eine Sparversion ist auch die Weitwinkelwirkung der Optik.

Panasonics ersten Wurf in dieser Kategorie kann man getrost als gelungen bezeichnen. Die Bedienung ist denkbar einfach gehalten, die Bildqualität überzeugt und die Möglichkeit, das Äußere zu gestalten, macht die HM-TA1 zu einem individuellen Schmuckstück.

Apart from the built-in video light, webcam capability, and marginally better low light ability than many competitors, Panasonic’s HM-TA1 is a relatively innocuous pocket Internet camcorder. However, it does have one feature to set it apart from the crowd – its price.

Wer einen Camcorder ausschließlich an PC oder Notebook anschließen möchte, kann mit dem Panasonic HM-TA1 nichts falsch machen. Wer aber seine Filme auf dem großen Fernseher bewundern möchte, wird den HDMI-Anschluss vermissen.

With plenty of models already available from camera and camcorder manufacturers as well as multifunction devices like the iPod Touch and a bevy of smartphones, the TA1 is fairly undesirable for its price and features. Add to that the overall poor design and there's just not much here to like. It is small and the video quality is very good — at least in bright conditions — but the device is otherwise unremarkable. Unless you can find it for cheap, there's little reason to pick the TA1 over mini-camcorders from Flip, Kodak or Sony.
