Battlefield 1(PS4)

A World War I shooter that's epic in every respect - the best Battlefield yet

This attention to balance permeates through every aspect of Battlefield 1's multiplayer, from the intricate interplay of its weapons and vehicles to careful positioning of objectives to catalyse ebb and flow during combat. [...] Battlefield 1 is better than its predecessors in almost every way.

With Battlefield 1, EA and DICE have proven that sometimes it´s best to take it back to basics. The game puts an emphasis on the individuals and not the war itself, showing that those who fought - on both sides - were just like us. ...

• ✓Sehr gut designte Karten
• ✓Tolle Klassenbalance

• ✓Immersive campaign with historical context
• ✓Makes great use of World War I setting
• ✓One of the best-looking games you will play this year
• ✓Wonderfully chaotic gameplay with a focus on teamwork

Despite that almost inevitable juxtaposition, Battlefield 1 is an incredible game. In some respects, it’s a gaming experience that charts one of the most confusing, tragic wars in history – and in others it’s a polished multiplayer game that will have you hankering for more kills. While those two aspects don’t sit too comfortably together, independently they result in the best Battlefield game in a while, and probably the best shooting game this year.

I just keep coming back to that same quote, though. “If history only remembers one in a thousand of us, then the future will be filled with stories of who we were and what we did.” For all that I’m enjoying Battlefield 1’s raucous multiplayer, its quieter moments are what will stick with me and I would gladly take a half-dozen more vignettes from DICE to fill out more of the war, both the Allied and Central Powers.

Having sunk just under 500 hours into Battlefield 4 since its release three years ago, Battlefield 1 comes as an incredibly refreshing experience, and I can see myself sinking even more hours into its World War One battles in the near future. ...
