Nintendo's 'play anywhere' gamble looks to have paid off in the charming Switch

• ✓Unique hybrid design
• ✓Two controllers included
• ✓Bright, crisp, colorful screen
• ✓Excellent exclusives

Nintendo's flexible console is the real deal, but time will tell if it gets the games deserves

• ✓Incredibly easy to use
• ✓Gaming wherever you want
• ✓The Joy-Con controllers are packed with tech
• ✓Bright and colourful screen

We're impressed with the hardware on offer with the Nintendo Switch, with some occasional frustrations. It's extremely versatile and amazingly powerful for a portable, and that's a unique selling point. It's a slick, attractive device, but is let down by Joy-Con performance problems, limited software, and expensive accessories. We've enjoyed the Switch - and absolutely adore Zelda - but Nintendo still has some work to do.

• ✓Sehr cleveres Konzept
• ✓Flotter Wechsel zwischen Tablet und Heimkonsole
• ✓Gelungene Joy-Cons

The Nintendo Switch blurs the line between handheld and home console, but it doesn't feel quite at home in either role.

... Nintendo’s made a potentially cool console. Now it needs to prove it’s worth all its hype.

• ✓Incredibly easy to use

• ✓The Joy-Con controllers are packed with tech
• ✓The screen is a triumph

• ✓Gutes Design in hochwertiger Verarbeitung
• ✓Interessante Titel wie Zelda – Breath of the Wild
• ✓Gutes Grundkonzept

Trotz schwächerer CPU war das Switch-Tempo hoch. Schade: Wii-U-Titel spielt sie nicht ab. [...]

• ✓"Attractive, innovative design. Works both as a home game console and a handheld system."

However, despite this, the rather limp launch lineup (aside from Breath of the Wild) and the lack of other applications and services, the Switch is undeniably fantastic and a truly brilliant piece of hardware. Every facet has been carefully thought through and considered and it really shows – this is the best console Nintendo has made in years. [...]

Fein aufgelöste Spiele per 4K? Hochgezüchtete Prozessoren? VR-Fähigkeit? Vergessen Sie's!

• ✓The Nintendo Switch is a versatile hybrid game console that easily pivots between a big-screen TV and on-the-go portable.
• ✓Its modular Joy-Con controllers are inventive.
• ✓The entire hardware feels substantial and refined.
• ✓Breath of the Wild is one of the best Nintendo launch games of all time.

• ✓Wechsel von TV- zu Handheld-Modus ist super
• ✓Viel Technik in Joy-Con
• ✓Ordentliche Akkulaufzeit
• ✓Home-Bildschirm ist übersichtlich
• ✓...

• ✓Viele Bedienmodi
• ✓Tolle Spiele
• ✓Gute Grafik
• ✓Intuitive Bedienung
• ✓Innovatives Konzept

I was unashamedly pessimistic before heading off for my lengthy hands-on time with Nintendo’s Switch. Those unimpressive headline figures like that sky-high price and non-Full HD screen left me feeling pretty disappointed. But once I finally picked up those joyous Joy-Con controllers, my inner child was brought back to life and all previous qualms disappeared.

Nintendo still has a lot of questions to answer regarding Switch, and we’re hoping to see much more of the console in the weeks leading up to its 3 March launch. Nintendo die-hards won’t even have to think about its £280 price tag, but for those that aren’t quite so keen, the Switch’s appeal is only going to grow over the course of 2017. ...

• ✓Unique design
• ✓Interesting announced titles
• ✓Great tablet screen
