The AirTag is an excellent entry to the Bluetooth tracker market, with simple set-up, easy tracking, and good privacy – but it could be even better.

Apple’s first tracker, AirTag, is a handy, well made device that makes it quick and easy to track down your keys when they get caught behind the cushions of your sofa. But during testing we found there are plenty of areas of improvement.

The AirTag is imperfect. But with its smart design, excellent long-range tracking and well-intentioned privacy protections, it's better than the rest.

- Needs additional accessory to attach to your items
- Doesn't alert you when left behind or lost
- Speaker could be louder
- Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband doesn't connect until about 10m away
- No altimeter - so can't account for height/floors
If you've coped so far without a lost and found technology service, then this doesn't add anything huge to the mix. But if you lose things a lot, this could be your saviour.
