Overall we like the smaller design of the AZ1 over many action cams, but the downgrade in performance that comes with it isn't worth the cut in size. Even simply as an action cam, the fact that it only goes 16 feet underwater—compared to 131 feet with any GoPro—is off-putting. We hope this is remedied in future case designs, as divers are a significant part of the action cam market...

Klein, robust, wasserfest und nicht allzu teuer ist die neue HDR-AZ1 von Sony. Praktisch keine sportliche Aktivität ist vor der schicken Action Cam sicher. Wer das gute Stück unter Wasser einsetzen möchte, sollte allerdings die Tiefe im Auge behalten.
... Vor allem für die 12 Megapixel großen Fotos interessant erscheint die lichtstarke Offenblende F2,8. Das hält die Verschlusszeiten auch bei wenig Licht angenehm kurz. Videos in Full-HD-Auflösung mit 60 beziehungsweise 50 Vollbildern pro Sekunde profitieren derweil von der hohen Bitrate mit 50 MBit. ...

Die Sony HDR-AZ1 überzeugt durch eine sehr gute Bildqualität. Die Kamera ist robust verarbeitet und verfügt zudem über einen elektronischen Bildstabilisator. Zudem punktet die Kamera durch das integrierte WLAN-Modul.
