The good: T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the S Note app, and a 5.3-inch HD screen that's ideal for showcasing multimedia. It has 4G, a great 8-megapixel camera, and a souped-up S Pen stylus that brings new ways to interact with your phone. The bad: The Galaxy Note's S Pen is small, has a delayed response, and requires a little training to use. The phone will be awkwardly large for some, and it doesn't fit easily into pockets. The bottom line:
With its huge screen and throwback stylus, the Samsung Galaxy Note with Android 4.0 is a polarizing smartphone that winks at tablet territory. Those who like their screens extra-large will find a top-notch device that lets multimedia shine. The S Pen adds some artistic potential, but for some, the phone will simply be too big.

Guter Akku. Durchweg gute Kamera. Sehr stabil. Eingabestift mitgeliefert, Schrifterkennung aber recht zäh. ...
Testnote: gut (2,00); Preisurteil: preiswert
- Built-in stylus is a nice option
- Huge 5.3-inch AMOLED screen
- Decent battery life
- LTE network is fast
- Awkward to make calls on
- Difficult to use with one hand
- Writing and drawing isn't the best on a touchscreen
- Strange screen size causes some app issues
- Bloatware apps are annoying
- Camera is slow
Samsung hasn’t made a huge mistake with the Galaxy Note, but for a majority of people, it’s a bit too large to be a good phone. It’s difficult to use it with one hand, and talking on it feels like you’re holding a brick to your face. At the same time, though the included S-Pen is nice, the Note is a bit small to be an effective tablet either. Almost everything you do on the Note can be done without much sacrifice on a 4.3 or 4.5-inch phone, which themselves push the limits of size. ..
Samsung's big, friendly giant works brilliantly for some tasks, but its huge size means it's unlikely to extend beyond niche appeal

- Gorgeous screen. Slim. Pressure sensitive stylus for drawing
- Phone software doesn't take advantage of large screen. Impossible to use one-handed
The Samsung Galaxy Note is an unfortunate tweener, satisfying neither phone nor tablet buyers.

Right now, the included apps that support pen mode are Polaris Office, S Memo and a game called Crayon Physics. Polaris Office lets you create documents, spreadsheets and slideshow presentations. You can insert drawings or screenshots in a presentation or use the pen to insert text. Crayon Physics is a cute game where you draw objects to get a ball to from point A to point B. This verison of Samsung's TouchWiz interface has a few interesting features including resizable widgets for the homescreen and a revamped calendar app...
- Large, bright display
- Snappy performance
- Pen works well with user interface
- A bit too large for a phone
- Not enough apps support the pen
With its large display and stylus-like pen, the Samsung Galaxy Note is a refreshing departure from the smartphone pack, but its design won't please everyone. Additionally, not enough apps support the pen right now.
The Note doesn’t quite live up to Samsung’s marketing slogan: “Jack of all trades, master of all”. It’s on the large side for a phone, doesn’t fit into small pockets and usually requires two hands for messaging. However, if you can live with these compromises the Note is a sleek, attractive powerhouse with one of the nicest screens we’ve ever seen, superb battery life and great video recording plus playback. ...
- Leistung pur
With a 5.3-inch screen and a tricked-out stylus that can take screenshots and let you freestyle drawings and notes, the LTE-ready Samsung Galaxy Note is an interesting take on the familiar Android smartphone.
At the end of the day, those attracted to the Galaxy Note's more extreme dimensions and extra tool will find a familiar Galaxy phone. Should the stylus strike you as gimmicky (as it does me), the rest of the features--from LTE to that larger battery--thankfully give it a solid base to stand on.

The stylus is pretty much how I remember one to be: light, narrow, short, and flimsy. Oh, it takes me back. Unlike those wands of yore, this variation--known as the S-Pen--works with a capacitive rather than resistive screen, so it's responsive to your fingertips as well as the pen tip. ...

There's a touch of the Marmites about the Galaxy Note -- if you love its huge size, there's plenty to admire, with all of Samsung's top-notch tech on board. But if you hate the idea of cramming your pocket with such a massive device, nothing will persuade you to take it on. Maybe consider HTC's Sensation XL?

In the first hands-on of the Galaxy Note, it's a bit unclear where to place this exotic product, or to even recognize what this device wants to be. A small tablet? An oversized smartphone? Or maybe a symbiosis of both device categories? ...

- Large, high-resolution Super AMOLED screen
- Fast dual-core processor
- Supports pen-based input
- Good battery life
- Too large to be an everyday phone
- Too small to function well as a tablet
- S Pen functionality could be more imaginatively implemented
he Galaxy Note has a large, vibrant and responsive screen, and is a good size for using 'notepad style' with the S Pen. However, it's too large to carry around as an everyday smartphone, and isn't as useful at home or in the office as a full-sized tablet...

- Reaktionsfreudiger Touchscreen
- Android 2.3
- Dual-Core-Prozessor mit je 1,4-GHz-Taktfrequenz
- Sehr großes Gerät
- Eher unhandlich
- Passt in keine Hosentasche
- Schwer
