The Basilisk is one of the best FPS mice out there, but Razer's Synapse 3 beta software has a way to go before it realizes its full potential.
- Thumb rest is a good addition
- DPI clutch is much more convenient than a standard sniper button
- Adjustable scroll wheel
- Flawless performance
- Ergonomics are let down by the flat right-hand side
- Software support for Razer products is currently split between two versions of Synapse, which is not only a bit confusing but means Chroma sync won’t work across all devices
The Basilisk is certainly a good mouse with a couple of new features which help it stand out. However, I do think the ergonomics need tweaking, while the software situation doesn’t help matters either.
The Basilisk makes a bold claim for itself, but it’s one that Razer has gone to great lengths to justify. Thankfully, it hasn’t just thrown features at the mouse without thought, and the more unique elements like customisable scroll wheel resistance and the swappable DPI clutch are indeed likely to tickle the fancy of serious FPS gamers. ...
- Adjustable thumb "clutch" easier to use than any sniper button
- Comfortable thumb rest area
- PWM3389 sensor closely related to the familiar PWM3360
- Unconventional shape might dissuade some
- Scroll wheel resistance is adjustable, but hard to get set properly
- Beta version of Razer Synapse is still not grea
The Razer Basilisk's thumb clutch and unconventional shape are winners, but is it really a better FPS mouse than the DeathAdder? Probably not.
The Basilisk’s biggest issue is that, regardless of how Razer’s positioning, it’s a direct competitor for the DeathAdder a.k.a. one of the most popular mice in the world. ...
