The Philips Fidelio Primo iPod dock is a classy looking and sounding unit which, with a little home ingenuity, can rival docks worth twice as much.
The Philips Fidelio Primo is probably the most "hi-fi" iPod dock you'll find at this price, but unless you're installing this on a desk directly in front of you you're not going to get the best sound. While you could get all MacGyver on the Philips, this may not appeal to people who don't want to have to tweak — and this is the sort of person we imagine who would buy an iPod dock in the first place. Still for 700 bucks this is a classy, gutsy and just-plain-fun little unit.

Das Fidelio DS9000 von Philips sieht wertig aus und wartet mit einer hervorragenden Audio-Qualität auf. Hier und da gibt es allerdings kleinere Schwächen. Damit ist das iPod-Dock nicht unbedingt besser als der Zeppelin von Bowers & Wilkins, aber durchaus konkurrenzfähig.

In terms of design, the DS9000 (sorry, we just can't keep saying Fidelio) is quite the looker. With its huge curved surface, this system looks more like a high-end doughnut than a traditional speaker. The centre loop has a chrome trim, while the back of the speaker has a plywood body.
The Philips Fidelio Primo DS9000 offers great sound quality and a pleasing design, even if it does have a few sonic quirks. It's no better than the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin iPod speaker, but it's worthy competition.

Der hohe Preis rechtfertigt sich durch den schönen und satten Klang. Einzig die Stand-by-Funktion ist schlecht gelöst.
