Nokia’s touch-and-type series phones look promising and the X3-02 also piqued our interest. The phone manages to pull out a few surprises but eventually it doesn’t impress us because of the dated operating system and better phones which are available in the sub-10K category.
Priced at Rs. 7590, the Nokia X3-02 is a little steep but it has a lot of features on offer and its sleek form factor may grab your attention. However, I would recommend taking a look at Nokia's very own E5 for just another Rs. 1400 more and check whether it fits your list of options...

Smartphones are no longer special. Smartphones are the norm, but while "always-connected" skills are expected as standard these days, not everyone has got used to the touchscreen operation that tends to come with them. Enter the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type, a semi-smart phone with a 2.4in touchscreen and a keypad, optimised for typing rather than just keying-in numbers.
The Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type's mix of touch and physical controls is novel, but the lack of GPS and weak apps roster makes it tough to recommend unless the sight of that keypad fills you with joy.

Mit einer typischen Ausdauer von 5:30 Stunden im Dauergebrauch liegt er zwar über dem bei Smartphones Üblichen, doch Handys schneiden teils deutlich besser ab.

Das Nokia X3-02 hält gleich mehrere Überraschungen bereit: Erst stellt sich der Bildschirm als Touchscreen heraus, dann fehlt die für Nokia eigentlich übliche GPS-Navigation und dann lässt die Kamera trotz fünf Megapixel einen Autofokus vermissen. Auf der anderen Seite unterstützt der flache Finne HSDPA mit 10,2 und HSUPA mit zwei Megabit pro Sekunde, ja sogar WLAN n – für ein S40-Modell ohne Office-Software und Push-Mail eine merkwürdige Kombination...

Nachdem Nokia lange Zeit kaum auf Touchscreen-Handys setzte, kommt nun mit der Eingabemethode Touch-and-Type frischer Wind ins Portfolio der Finnen. Im Falle des X3-02 steht ein 2,4 Zoll großes Display bereit, welches die resistive Eingabemethode verlangt. Im Internet ist das Handy per WLAN, dem UMTS-Turbo HSDPA oder EDGE unterwegs, auch E-Mails lassen sich mit dem Quadband-Handy verwalten.
Nokias neueste Eingabemethode Touch-and-Type in Form des X3-02 ist bereits für 150 Euro ohne Vertrag erhältlich. Doch das Mittelklassehandy bietet weitere Ausstattungs-Schmankerl, ist beispielsweise im Internet mit WLAN, HSDPA und EDGE unterwegs. Der Opera-Browser zeigt Internetseiten angenehm zügig und auch E-Mail-Konten sind fix eingerichtet. Überhaupt erweist sich aus Sicht der handytarife.de-Redaktion Symbian-S40 als das passende Betriebssystem für Nokias neuesten Wurf.

Despite tense boardroom reshuffles and worrying reports showing a reduction in its global share of the smart-phone pie, Nokia is in a bullish mood, picking fights with everyone it can. At the upper end of the scale, the N8 is trying to take on the iPhone, while the company's also fighting for its share of the budget market with phones like the 1616 and 2220 Slide.
Perfect for entry-level smart-phone users, the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is armed with both a touchscreen and button interface, as well as a drop-dead-gorgeous design. Its relatively outdated operating system won't please smart-phone veterans, though.

It has been a long wait for us here in Asia, but the HTC Desire will finally be available soon. For the uninitiated, this mobile phone was announced at the Barcelona-based Mobile World Congress 2010 in February. It's a variant of Google's Nexus One, also made by HTC, but comes with a few important differences.

Das Nokia X3 überzeugte im Test mit seiner feinen Verarbeitung, vielen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten und einem klangstarken Musik-Player samt hervorragendem In-Ear-Headset. Das alles zum äußerst günstigen Preis: Knapp 120 Euro werden für den kleinen Finnen derzeit fällig. Wer sich von einem Handy jedoch schnelle Datenraten oder eine leistungsstarke Kamera erwartet, der ist beim X3 an der falschen Adresse.
Sehr gut aufgestelltes Einsteiger-Handy für Musik-Fans.
