Testberichte
- Elegant design
- Very good display
- Good proprietary software set
- No Blu-ray Drive
- Speaker could be clearer
The new 21.5 inch iMac all-in-one desktop undergoes a major hardware upgrade while still retaining its old stylish look.
The configuration we tested cost Rs. 64,900. In terms of performance, it is a clear improvement on the previous iMac series. The price is still rather high, and the absence of features such a Blu-ray drive doesn’t help the case of the iMac. However if you are a Mac/Apple loyalist this iMac is well worth its price. And even if you are not an Apple fan, this is one all-in-one desktop that you must definitely check out.
- Stunning design
- Great performance
- Big, beautiful display
- Very expensive
- No USB 3.0 port or Blu-ray player
- Awkward port placement
- Thunderbolt ports aren't useful yet
The iMac's iconic aluminium construction is pure tech luxury -- smooth, cool metal curves and a minimalist aesthetic mean it looks simply fantastic. This is the kind of kit that you'll spend a moment lovingly running your fingers over once it's out of the packaging, before you switch it on.
Apple's refreshed iMac isn't very ambitious, but it's still the most attractive, elegant and eminently usable all-in-one computer out there. It's extremely expensive compared to its Windows rivals, but the iMac is great fun to use.
Testergebnis: befriedigend (2,67); Preisurteil: teuer
- Sandy Bridge means big performance increases from last year's Macs
- You can now order a Magic Trackpad for free
- Only incremental upgrades since the last iMac model
- There's still no Thunderbolt gear
The Apple iMac has received some power and performance upgrades since its last model in mid-2010. It’s now got a second generation Intel Core i5 quad-core processor, some beefy graphics power and customisable options for plenty of memory and hard drive space. Not much else has changed, however.
Apple's new iMac is more powerful than the old model. That's about it -- nothing magical or revolutionary has been added to the all-in-one Mac desktop. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since we think it's one of the best all-in-one PCs on the market today. The extra power also means it's more than capable enough of handling any every day task thrown at it, as well as a range of reasonably intensive tasks like batch photo editing.
- The best performance, design and largest display among current all-in-ones
- Exciting potential from the Thunderbolt ports
- No HDMI inputs
- Hardware options more expensive than Windows-based competition
We recommend Apple's new 27-inch iMac to digital media editors and others with serious performance needs on the strength of its impressive speed, its connected device potential and its market-leading 27-inch display.
The launch of the new Apple MacBook Pro range a few months ago may have spoiled the surprise for the rest of Apple’s updates, but there’s no doubt most of us at PC Pro were far more excited to see Sandy Bridge make its way into Apple’s beautiful 27in iMac than in its laptops...
A few flaws remain, but Sandy Bridge and a superb screen put it way ahead of every other all-in-one PC we’ve seen
- "As the most-affordable iMac, the Apple iMac 21.5-inch offers competitive speed, the unique potential of its Thunderbolt port, and Apple's trademark design leadership."
- "The 21.5-inch iMac isn't the best all-in-one for home entertainment, and its performance competitiveness suffers without an option for more video memory."
Apple's $1,199 iMac doesn't offer the same home entertainment features as Windows-based all-in-ones, but its speed, looks, and the future utility of its Thunderbolt port make it a strong choice for performance-sensitive professionals.
- dank SIPS-Display hoher Betrachtungswinkel
- sehr gute Darstellungsqualität
- hohe Auflösung von 2560 mal 1440 Bildpunkten
- Thunderbolt-Anschluss
- beste Performance aller erhältlichen All-in-One-Desktops
- spiegelnder Bildschirm
- kein USB 3.0

- Grunty new GPU

- No eSATA port
- Gloss screen may irritate some
While others have tried and failed, the iMac is still king of the hill when it comes to all-in-ones. All that's left to ask for is faster external storage and better SSDs, but for now it still comes highly recommended.
