Testberichte
The 27in all-in-one iMac is the first Apple machine to appear in our desktop PC charts, but its specification, performance and value make this power desktop PC impossible to ignore.
Upgrades are off-limits and the Apple iMac 27in (Mid-2010) power desktop PC's screen would work even better without the gloss finish. But, given the carefully assembled components here, and provided that games aren’t your bag, there will be little reason to upgrade anything for a long time to come.
- Design
- relatively powerful
- wireless keyboard and mouse included
- excellent screen
- Still no Blu-ray option
- connections can be inconvenient around the back
Every year we run into the same problem: what do you call the update to Apple’s latest device? This is always going to be the case when you keep the name, but change the design and specs of a device. So here we have the Apple iMac 21.5-inch, announced in July 2010, and equipped with the Intel Core i3 3.06GHz processor. ...
For the average user who wants to indulge in a little multimedia consumption and get on with a range of typical office tasks, the iMac makes a great choice
- All-aluminium case
- Brilliant build quality
- Big, bright high-resolution display
- Decent performance
- Rather paltry connectivity
- Reaching ports on the back of the iMac is a hassle
The design hasn't changed much -- Apple has stuck with the aluminium unibody, and we have to say we're pleased. Machined from a single block of aluminium, if this computer had pores, class would be oozing from every single one. Each edge is delightfully sharp and precise, and we can't help but like the Spartan, minimalistic approach Apple has taken.
We found the port selection and placement a little irksome, but this 21.5-inch Apple iMac, complete with 3.06GHz Core i3 processor, is a beautifully crafted machine. It offers solid performance and a bright, vivid display.
- Leistungsstarke Komponenten
- Sehr gutes Display
- Schnelle SSD
- Hochwertiges Aluminiumgehäuse
- Leises Betriebsgeräusch
- Wird im Betrieb recht warm
- Teuer
The iMac is something of an anomaly in Apple’s product line-up. Where the iPod touch, nano, shuffle, iPhone and (especially) the iPad are undeniably priced as high as they are pretty much just because Apple can get away with it, the iMac, at lease for the last few revisions, represents uncharacteristically good value for money for an Apple product. That it also comes with an arguably superior operating system, packaged in an undeniably stylish chassis is icing on an already moist and delicious cake.
There's no denying how elegant an iMac looks upon a desk, with its undeniably stylish chassis and glossy display. Yes, it comes with a high price tag, but you certainly get what you pay for. The Apple iMac 21.5in, with its Intel Core i3 CPU running at 3.06GHz and use of Turbo Boost technology, is a quick machine with enough processing power to tackle any task. There's also a good range of connectivity options. Quite simply, the iMac is the best all-in-one system you can buy.
- LED-backlit display
- excellent design and construction
- good performance
- new processors and graphics cards
- No HDMI or Blu-ray
- no number pad on included keyboard
- glossy display can be distracting
Apple has updated its range of iMac desktop computers, with faster processors and better graphics the order of the day. The new iMac looks virtually identical to its predecessors, but the internal upgrades will keep most users happy — though HDMI connectivity and Blu-ray playback are still absent.
Apple's latest iMac retains an identical design to earlier iMacs but features upgraded internal components. If you've recently purchased an iMac there isn't enough to justify an upgrade, but if you're looking to purchase your first Mac or want to upgrade an older model then you should be pleased.
- Huge, quality screen and high resolution
- SDXC card support
- Grunty new GPU
- Still the best value all-in-one
- No eSATA port
- Gloss screen may irritate some
While others have tried and failed, the iMac is still king of the hill when it comes to all-in-ones. All that's left to ask for is faster external storage and better SSDs, but for now it still comes highly recommended.
While others have tried and failed, the iMac is still king of the hill when it comes to all-in-ones. With Core i processors inside and Radeon 5000 series graphics, it makes a more than halfway competent production machine, the resolution alone making it nigh on perfect for high-resolution video work on a budget. All that's left to ask for is faster external storage and better SSDs, but for now it still comes highly recommended.
- fantastisches Design
- Strong dual-core and multitasking performance for its price
- upgraded graphics chip handles most Mac games with ease
- SDXC card slot supports higher-capacity cards than older iMacs
- best-looking all-in-one on the market
- No HDMI input
- no Blu-ray
- native quad-core CPUs better at multithreaded applications
- small screen size for its price
- runs hot
In time for the back-to-school buying season, Apple has updated its iMac desktop line with a broad assortment of under-the-hood features. This review will focus on the entry-level S$1,788 model, but all four of Apple's default iMac configurations received updates to their CPU, memory, and graphics chips. The highest-end 27-inch model also has a new option for solid-state hard drives.
Apple has elected to keep its iMac firmly grounded as a productivity device. You'll find few home entertainment conveniences in Apple's new iMac, and you can find larger screens in other all-in-ones for less. Few will offer performance like this iMac, though, and none looks as pretty, which makes it easy to recommend for general-purpose computing and for the design-conscious.
