Klare Sache, Samsung hat mit dem BD-D8500 wieder einmal vorgelegt. Nicht nur bietet die Kombination aus Blu-ray-Player, HD-Empfänger und Festplattenrekorder einen Funktionsumfang, der sie zum veritablen Mediacenter adelt. In jeder Einzeldisziplin vermag das Gerät zudem qualitativ mit den besten Insellösungen mitzuhalten und setzt bei der Blu-ray-Wiedergabe sogar neue Maßstäbe in seiner Klasse. ...

There’s something decidedly low-rent about the word “combi”, but this two-into-one effort from Samsung is most definitely upmarket. Costing a whopping £380, it darn well should be, but wait until you see what it can do: 3D Blu-ray playback, Freeview HD viewing and recording, and BBC iPlayer. ...

The high price and heavyweight size will put many off, but this 3D Blu-ray player-cum-HDD recorder’s combination of unusual features make it a niche product extraordinaire. Top quality 3D is the icing on an enticing high-end package that marries BBC iPlayer and comprehensive digital file playback via USB or DLNA to Freeview HD and a huge hard disk. Zusammenfassung
Samsung already makes some of the most impressive Blu-ray players and systems in the business, but its 2011 range promises to be its best ever. With loads of new features aligned to the company’s canny fashion sense and keen eye for value, Samsung is taking the fight to its big name rivals – the first evidence of which comes in the form of the BD-D8500, a Blu-ray player with a built-in Freeview HD PVR that we’ve got our hands on before anyone else.
Fazit
Fusing Blu-ray and Freeview HD into a single box, the Samsung BD-D8500'ss lengthy feature list displays a level of generosity that would put Santa Claus to shame. We love the improvements to the external design and onscreen displays, particularly the terrific new Smart Hub internet portal. Features like 2D-to-3D conversion, AllShare and built-in Wi-Fi are also welcome. There are a few operational issues though, and a few more killer Smart Hub apps wouldn't go amiss, but overall the BD-D8500 is a superb proposition.
