Testberichte
An appealing, attractive smartphone that doesn’t cost the earth - our new favourite Windows Phone 8 handset
- Helles und scharfes Display
- toller Browser
- gute Akustik
- schneller Browser
- macht gute Bilder
- durchschnittliche Akkulaufzeit
- Decent image quality
- Fast wide-angle lens
- Back of phone is rubber coated
- Performs well in low-light
- ...
- Not ideal for portrait shots
- AWB can struggle outdoors
- Very basic camera app
The HTC Windows Phone 8X has a decent camera and is capable of producing good images and won't let you down in low-light thanks to its f/2.0 lens and low noise at higher ISOs. ...
- Light, practical size
- WP8 is slick
- Decent camera
- Fast
- Good edge definition with video
- Average sound quality
- Colour lacks punch
- Poor battery life
- Lacking in apps
It’s more practical than the Lumia 920 but, crucially, doesn’t perform as well in the key areas of audio, video and web browsing. Still a decent addition to the initial WP8 roster, but we expect better will come from HTC and Windows.
- Tadellose Verarbeitungsqualität
- Exzellente Ausstattung
- Guter Sound
- PC-Synchronisierung mit Problemen
- Kein Speicherkarten-Slot
- handlicher Formfaktor
- sehr gutes 4,3-Zoll-HD-TFT-Display
- modernes Ul dank Live-Kacheln
- gute Ausdauerwerte
- 15 Gigabyte interner Speicher etwas knapp, weil nicht erweiterbar
- App-Auswahl vergleichsweise klein
- hohe Bildschärfe des Displays
- schneller Browser
- Office über Cloud synchronisieren
- wenige Foto-Optionen
- Built-in wireless charging
- Unlocked quad-band HSPA+ radios
- Best-designed WP8 phone on Verizon
- Beautiful display
- A little pricey
- Bing is the only search engine offered on the browser
This is the best Windows Phone 8 device offered on Verizon, but you'll need to swallow a premium cost to get it.
- sehr gutes Interface
- leicht individualisierbares Hauptmenü
- auskunftsfreudiger Sperrbildschirm
- hochwertiges, elegantes Gehäuse
- hochauflösendes, abbildungsstarkes Display
- ...
- kein Micro-SD-Slot zum Speicherausbau
- Super-slick interface
- Cool camera options
- Screenshots. Finally
- Still not intuitive enough
- Requires a new handset
- App store still gappy
Windows Phone is still the most recent entirely new phone OS to launch (though BlackBerry has its software just around the corner). Two years on, it’s still fresh and different, but now has so many improvements and additions it feels even more innovative. ...
The HTC Windows Phone 8X is the best all-rounder of the Windows Phone 8 smartphones we've tried. It has a different and less comprehensive selection of pre-loaded apps to Nokia models, but the hardware is better than the identically priced Lumia 820.
- Sehr ordentliche Hardware-Ausstattung
- Tolles Display mit großem Blickwinkel
- Flaches Design mit rutschfester Hülle
- Magere App-Ausstattung
- Innovative operating system
- Intuitive operating concept
- Device's attractive design
- Build quality
- High-end screen
- NFC (near-field communication)
- Good camera performance
- No memory expansion possible
- Built-in battery
- Power button's positioning and pressure point
- Affordable stereo headset
The overall impression of the new high-end smartphone based on Windows 8 is positive throughout. The software is dynamic and intuitive in use. Even technically less savvy users will quickly have an overview of the operating concept and the options. The smartphone is in line with other Windows 8 systems, such as a computer or tablet, and allows easy synchronizing via Microsoft's cloud service. ....
- Exquisite design
- Compact package
- Gorgeous display
- Exquisite design
- Compact package
- Gorgeous display
HTC's 8X is the better WP8 buy on T-Mobile. But at a relatively high $199 on-contract price, it can't outcompete AT&T's Lumia 920.
- Fresh and attractive design
- Excellent screen
- Slick and fast performance
- Limited internal memory & no card slot
- Poor ergonomics due to long shape
- Limited Windows Phone app ecosystem
The Windows Phone 8X by HTC is one of the most attractive smartphones we've reviewed this year. It offers excellent performance thanks to the slick Windows Phone OS and has a great display. However, the 8X is let down by a lack of expandable memory, some odd design ergonomics and the Windows Phone third-party app ecosystem.
- Innovatives Betriebssystem
- Intuitives Bedienkonzept
- Ansprechendes Gerätedesign
- Verarbeitungsqualität
- Hochwertiges Display
- NFC (Near Field Communication)
- Gute Kameraleistung
- Keine Speicherweiterung möglich
- Fest verbauter Akku
- Windows Phone 8 OS
- fine screen
- fast processor
- Windows Phone 8 OS
- fine screen
- fast processor
It seems a bit moot to argue which of iOS, Android or Windows is the better OS these days. The first two have many more apps available but in use, all three systems are slick and accomplished, and all are getting better too.
- Exquisite, compact design
- Excellent performance and display
- LTE support
- Weak app ecosystem
- $100 only offers 8GB of storage
The HTC 8X is a fantastic ambassador to WP8 but needs a stronger app ecosystem. AT&T's model offers less storage for the money than the competition.
- Physical buttons: accessibility and sensitivity could be better
- Camera interface isn't great
- Some major apps still not available for Windows Phone 8
- LED flash isn't particularly effective
- Very fast and responsive / Good battery life / High-quality screen
- Advanced customisation options in OS and handy Live Tiles
- Good camera
- SkyDrive, Office, SmartGlass for controlling an Xbox 360
- Kid's mode is a good idea / Options for partially-sighted users
The HTC 8X is the most effective embodiment of the Windows Phone OS we've seen yet. It's a sturdy phone that's been nicely designed and well made, and it's above all very, very fast. The 8X is the flagship of choice for the new Windows Phone 8 OS. This mobile cuts to the chase, does its job and offers ideal performance levels for users discovering or rediscovering Microsoft's mobile OS.
- Comfortable stylish design
- Great hardware specs
- Great screen quality
- Fantastic camera
- ...
- No micro SD
- Camera not as good as iPhone 5
- Xbox Music app needs update
- App store still a bit weaker than Android and iOS
It’s rare that we have nothing bad to say about a phone. The HTC Windows Phone 8X sets a new bar for Windows Phone. It is the first WP8 device we can recommend to those hunting for a top-notch superphone over the holidays. ...
- "The HTC Windows Phone 8X's edgy design joins forces with a top-of-the-line processor, LTE speeds, and great call quality."
- "This phone's 8-megapixel camera took a few poor pictures, the buttons are too flush, and the OS lacks some key apps."
With top specs and a striking design, HTC's Windows Phone 8X makes a smart choice for anyone ready to dive into the Windows Phone OS.
After four days of getting to know Windows Phone 8, our initial mood can be described as positive. While Windows Phone 7.5 already was a fine operating system, Windows Phone 8 offers more options to customise the phone according to your own ideas and preferences. ...
The HTC 8X is a fantastic ambassador to Windows Phone 8, but we're longing for a similar phone running Android -- at least until a stronger app ecosystem develops for Microsoft's latest mobile OS.
- 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture
- Elegant, latest WP8 OS
- Unibody polycarbonate design
- Fantastic contacts integration
- No removable battery
- No expandable memory
- Rubbish multiple calendar support
- Mediocre battery life
When we reviewed earlier Windows Phone handsets, we were told the platform needed time to bed in. It's had that and it's evolved but we can't help feeling there are still a few areas it really is left lacking. Things like the poor media support are inexcusable and these are places where Microsoft is to blame more than HTC. ...
- Kid's corner
- Rooms
- SkyDrive
- Wallet
- Lack of apps
As a standalone mobile operating system, Windows Phone 8 offers some cracking features and some great usability, and is only hampered by the hardware that is available to run it on.
We can't give a verdict before testing out the 8X more thoroughly. As soon as we get a review model, we'll put it through its paces and update this article. What's disappointing, though, is the lack of expandable storage given the paltry 16GB - with no higher-capacity model on offer.
- "Beautiful design. Stunning screen. Makes Windows Phone 8 look hot. Easy-to-use camera shutter button with half-hold for focusing. Wide-angle front-facing camera is fun."
- "Red blinking low-battery light is annoying. Phone gets noticeably warm with prolonged use. No public transportation directions in Maps. Main camera is kinda meh."
HTC has delivered something Windows Phone has needed for a while: a phone you’d actually want".
The HTC One V is a great looking phone, and its likely low end price will mean it has widespread appeal, even if it is a little sluggish when it comes to performance. We'll be sure to find out just whether HTC has got the balance right when we review it in full. And with it set to arrive in shops in April, that hopefully shouldn't be too far away.
