Once again it seems like it's Apple vs the world. While potential rivals for the iPad have been growing in number over the last few weeks, Apple is fighting back with a new and improved version of its ground-breaking touchscreen tablet. The iPad 2 is clearly designed to help Apple stay one step ahead of the game in the tablet market, and although it's very similar to the iPad 1—with the same screen and interface, for example—it also has a few key differences.

Fazit

On iOS 5 the Apple iPad 2 gains speed, as well as a selection of new services that change the way users interact the product and consume content on a large-screen portable device. Compared with the original iPad, the tablet's design and handling has improved, making this new version even more stylish and ever more appealing. The photo function isn't really up to scratch, but the iPad 2 is still an excellent tablet that's got plenty going for it (user-friendly interface, broad appeal, App Store etc.)

Zusammenfassung

After our first hand-on test, at the European launch event for the iPad 2 in London, we took a few weeks time to test out the device and see what it could do. Of course, our primary objective was to find out whether or not it would be worth the money for users to upgrade from their old iPads to the newer iPad 2. In the following in-depth review, we will resolve this question and shine light on the features the new iPad 2 has to offer. ...

Fazit

The first generation iPad started a technological revolution. Apples iPad 2 takes all that was good in the first iPad and makes it better, leaving behind the flaws and installing new hardware and software, to give the second generation iPad user a better experience. The classic aluminium case is great to touch, sturdy, and the material quality is very good. The measurements and the weight have been slightly tuned to give the iPad 2 a refreshing new look; the slimmer case and lower weight make the handling of the device a real pleasure. ...

Thronfolger.

Say what you like about the original iPad, you’d have to be deluded not to admit that Apple's equally lauded and derided tablet has changed a market more dramatically than we've seen in a long time. Apple may not be the only company making a good tablet any more, but it was certainly the first and it definitely takes credit for opening up the minds of the general public to the idea that, yes, a tablet just might have a place in their lives.

Fazit

Without the majority of the tablet competition yet available it's hard to definitively call the iPad 2 the best of this generation. However, it's here, it's good and it's well priced, all of which gives the competition even more to live up to when they finally arrive. The iPad 2 is still just a toy - we can't believe that anyone could need an iPad - but that's okay; if you can afford a shiny expensive extravagance, why not buy the best available?

The magic is back for a second act, baby, and it doesn't play for the Lakers (that's the other Magic). The magic we're talking about plays for team Apple, and while the competition tries to come up with a so-called "iPad killer," Apple may have beat them to the punch. How's that for irony? Zusammenfassung

It’s not really the thinness of the iPad 2 that makes it so impressive. Or the speed boost from the dual-core A5 processor. Or the slick magnetic Smart Cases. It’s how all of these ingredients work together with the software to deliver a better experience. And a better iPad (starting again at an aggressive $499) is bad news for other tablet makers, who are struggling to catch up to Apple’s 65,000 app lead–nevermind the new industrial design. Here’s our quick take.

Fazit

So what’s missing? The display resolution of the iPad 2 is the same as its predecessor, even though the panel still looks great. And you don’t get 4G data connectivity, which gives the 4G LTE-upgradeable Motorola Xoom an edge in that department. We also didn’t see anything today in terms of cloud integration with iTunes. Overall, though, the iPad 2 looks like a pretty sweet sequel.
